Michelangelo Landgrave specializes in state and local politics, legislative studies and race, ethnicity & immigration politics. His Political Science PhD is from the University of California, Riverside. He also holds a Master's degree in Economics from California State University, Long Beach.

He is a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton University's Center for the Study of Democratic Politics for the 2021-2022 academic year. He is also an associate fellow at the Office of Evaluation Sciences in the General Services Administration of the US Federal Government.

Starting fall 2022 he will be joining the Harry S. Truman School of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Missouri.

He was previously a joint predoctoral fellow with the Mexican National Council of Science and Technology and the University of California Institute for Mexico and the United States (2016 - 2021). He was an American Political Science Association minority fellow (Spring 2018).

His peer reviewed research has appeared or is forthcoming in Political Analysis, State Politics & Policy Quarterly, American Politics Research, Legislative Studies Quarterly, PS: Political Science & Politics, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization and Journal of Behavioral Public Administration.

Personal Life

Michelangelo migrated from Mexico to the United States at the age of two. In addition to California, he has lived in Washington DC and Montana. He currently lives in the greater Los Angeles area with his pet turtles. One of them is named Michelangelo.
